It’s February and everything’s great! I’m kidding.
But there’s a lot going on so here’s a quick rundown.
First and foremost, I have just dropped a new stand up comedy special, Perfectly Normal. Filmed at Hayworth Theater in Los Angeles, Perfectly Normal is an hour of me talking and occasionally moving around. Here’s a clip I haven’t posted anywhere yet.
If you’d like to see it, you can buy it right here. . Ten bucks, cheap!
If you’re in Southern California, here’s something cool! On Feb. 7th, I’ll be at the beautiful Gardena Cinema hosting a double feature of two of my favorite dystopian nightmare movies. A 1971 adaption of Richard Matheson’s novel I Am Legend, it’s the blaxploitation zombie apocalypse classic that stars a white guy, Charlton Heston in The Omega Man.
As well as Vincent Price’s 1964 Italian cheapie knock-off same, The Last Man On Earth. This version was actually written by Matheson, but he took his name off it. Woo-hoo!
Both on the big screen, Gardena style!
On Feb., 19th, I’ll be joining Jeff Davis, some brilliant musicians and the stars of Lucha Libre in Lucha VaVoom, to benefit LA Wildfire Relief.
Next to lastly, if you are lucky enough to be on the beautiful island of O’ahu, I will be doing two shows at the Blue Note Hawaii on Feb. 22nd. Please come down if you’re on the island!
And lastly, the next Dana Gould Hour Podcast will be dropping early next week, with the brilliant cartoonist Drew Friedman, a discourse on modern horror films with writer-producer Kurt Sayenga, and a True Tales From Weirdsville deep dive into Budd Schulberg and Elia Kazan’s prescient classic, A Face In The Crowd!
Don’t worry. It couldn’t happen here!
Salute!
Funny, I just purchased a head bust of The Omega Man’s Matthias to paint… it will be added to the Zerbe Wing of my collection.
Apropos of everything, my profile picture technically makes your headline a lie… sort of.
Long time listener, first time poster.
Sincerely, thank you for being you and making the uncool feel less alone in this world.
Lucha VaVoom is great, I need to see it again.
